About AiR Studio Gallery
AiR Studio Gallery is a bright space in the heart of Westerly. Painter Annie Wildey and photographer Michael Fanelli have joined forces to open a new space that blurs the line between gallery, studio, and something altogether new .
The name AiR comes from the term “artists in residence” and gives a peek into what the co-owners are aiming to do with the venue. With three rooms and an abundance of space, visitors will find the first exhibition brings together paintings, photographs, and prints in surprising and inventive ways.

Annie is a British artist and long-time resident of New York city where she worked for many years before getting her MFA at the New York Academy of Art. Annie moved eastward and eventually settled in Westerly in 2020.
A painter first and printmaker second, Annie explores moments of beauty, wonder and awe in the coastal landscape. She interprets her experience of the landscape through a fluid process of moving between freedom and control, accident and intention, pushing and pulling paint around to translate a subject in motion. |
Michael Fanelli is a New England based photographer and graphic designer.
He uses the camera to render images intentionally using the language of traditional photography, even when pursuing experimental imagery. Celebrating what can be seen with a camera that at times may not be viewable to the eye. Subject, light, composition, and moment are the essential aspects of his work. |
A studio and gallery where everyone is welcome
AiR is a busy studio where you can find both of us in the midst of the creative process. At AiR we want the community to feel welcome and are encouraged to drop in for a conversation and enjoy art. Drawing inspiration from the local landscape, AiR offers painted seascapes by Annie and contemporary photographs with an experimental edge by Michael. With a range of work at a variety of price points, we hope there is something for everyone at AiR. If someone connects with our work, we want them to be able to take it home whether it's a large bespoke piece, a small print, or a pack of notecards.” |
