Painting Acadia Plein Air - With Arde BergSunday, June 19th to Sunday, June 26th, 2016
Schoodic Point, Acadia National Park. Be inspired by the rocky coasts and forests of Maine’s Acadia National Park in this plein air landscape painting retreat led by Ard Berge. Over seven days, explore nature drawing, the colors of sunlight on surf, and quick painting on locations mined by Thomas Cole and Frederic Edwin Church. The retreat fees include meals and shared housing at Schoodic Institute inside Acadia National Park as well as five days of instruction with additional presentations from Visiting Artists John Volk and Annie Wildey.

Workshop InstructorArde BergeArd Berge received his M.F.A. in Painting from the New York Academy of Art in 1997. He was awarded a B.F.A. in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995. His education also includes study with Jacob Collins at Water Street Atelier, working with Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky at the Art Institute of Florence in Italy, and private lessons with Patrick Devonas. Since 1999, he has taught studio art and art history at Felician College where he currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Art and Music Department. Berge has additionally taught at the New York Academy of Art and Bergen Community College. In 2001, he was invited by the U.S. Department of State to conduct workshops in Angola with Antonio Olé. Ard Berge has also been awarded artist’s residencies at the Santa Fe Art Institute in 2002 and Acadia National Park in 2012. Berge has exhibited widely—with recent solo shows at Art First Contemporary Art gallery in London and at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. He lives and works in Manhattan.

Visiting ArtistsArde Berge, will be provide painting instruction for participants. In additio to Arde two visiting artists: Annie WIldey and John Volk, will lead two special presetations or seminars, during the workshops, topics to be announced.
about the Visiting ArtistsAnnie WildeyAnnie is a British painter and printmaker. She received an MFA from The New York Academy of Art and was awarded a Post-graduate Fellowship. Annie has painted plein air in Scotland, France, St Barts, in the French West Indies. and many locations in the US including Acadia, Maine. Annie lives in Mystic Ct, where she maintains a studio at The Velvet Mill, in Stonington Ct.
Annie’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including The National Museum of China: The Mall Galleries, London, UK; The Heckscher Museum, NY, and The University of Connecticut.
