Sun, Sea ,Wind & Moon

This intoxicating combination of elements can nourish, nurture and surprise us in both dramatic and quiet ways. While Mother Nature puts on a spectacular display of beauty at sunset, the sun can also sparkle like jewels on the ocean. In the next moment glistening beads of water explode into the air as the wind catches the surf. The moon on the other hand has a serene like presence, quietly hoping you will take notice as it peeks above the horizon without much fanfare, or it bids the night goodbye in an early morning sky, as the waves gently lap ashore.

I bring these experiences into the studio as I explore the smells, feelings, energy and movement. My process is fluid, moving between freedom and control, accident and intention, as I push and pull the paint to interpret  this subject in motion.

Size isn't everything...

​You'll find ten small works in the collection. I love how small works look  hung as a gallery wall. It's a nice way to display  a range of work from one artist or to mix it up and show several artists in your growing collection. 

Small works are also an affordable way to start your collection, and offer  the versatility of placing them in little nooks and crannies in your home. Like a powder room,  bedside table,  or nestled amongst books and collectibles on a bookshelf. 

​ The size is also intimate and beckons the viewer to take a closer look.

I find working on a small scale exciting and fun to let paint be paint, and explore mark making and happy accidents.  Creating lots of energy and texture!   I try to bring this experience to the easel when I am working on larger paintings too. At least thats the goal!

Avondale Arts, Watch Hill, Rhode Island

​Coastal Breeze is on view at Avondale Arts, in the beautiful coastal town of Watch Hill, Rhode Island.  It's a lovely place to vacation even for a day trip.

Watch Hill Tips

If you visit be sure to check out the lighthouse, or take a walk a Napatree point. Stop for a light lunch at the Cooked Goose, then pop across the road to Avondale Arts and view the exhibiton.  On your way home I highly recommend stopping at the fabulous Ocean house for a cocktail with a spectacular view!

The Shari
​Try my favorite summer cocktail; Tito's vodka, St Germain, with a prosecco float - yum!

​It's called 'the Shari' after a killer artist friend and gallery owner.

The show runs through July 31, 2019

There will be an artist reception on Friday July 12, from 5-7pm.
