A Glimpse into the Printmaking Process

Picture
As artists we are often encouraged to focus and to specialize, to work only in one media. To me this has always seemed to be something that goes against the nature of creativity itself.  To explore and allow one's curiosity to the lead the way seems a far more natural and intuitive way to work.

I often find the subject matter or idea will let me know how it wants to be expressed, my job is to listen.

I'm both a painter and a printmaker. Each requires it's own tools and unique approach to mark-making and process.  I find switching back and forth between the two, keeps my studio practice fresh.

This short video provides a glimpse into the the printmaking process showing the etching plate 'Cape Terrain', being inked, printed and editioned. Cape Terrain is part of the Coastal Portfolio.

I find it such a meditative, romantic and quite magical process, I hope it speaks to you too.
